Fourteen

So yeah, in fourteen days nationals goes down... i wish it'd get over with already. I'm gettin anxious.

They sent out the competitors list today - welter = 2nd biggest division, 27 people. middle? NINE PEOPLE! for nationals... what the FUCK!?!

Oh well.

Anyhoo, i'm starting tomorrow to drink nothing but water for 2 weeks with the exception of my protein drinks. See if that can help me firmly get into the welterweight division without having to completely stop weight training.

I FINALLY watched X-Men 2 last night and all I can say is HOLY SHIT THAT MOVIE ROCKS... The bit with Wolverine/Iceman and the Dr. Pepper was funny, the pace of the movie was great, and I hope Colossus is used more in the 3rd movie (you know damn well they're gonna make another). Lots of cool extras on the DVD, bio type stuff for kids who grew up on watching X-Men and other Marvel comic book/cartoon stuff.

I need to get myself a small job between now and June when that soccer coaching thing starts up, but not havin much luck right now. Any ideas? Hmph.

We have OTA training on the upcoming weekend, but I guess no one is planning to go really except us and YC, wonder what that will end up being like.

I'm tired.... i'm gonna get some sleep. Maybe this week i'll wake up for training! :)

(or cartoons)..

Mark

"Now everybody in the 3-1-3..."

Hey

Just got in from a run... gonna relax for about a half hour then head to the taekwondo club... goin a bit early so I can do some weights before I train.

Watched 8 Mile today for the first time in a while, i'd forgotten how simply AWESOME that movie is. Must have watched it 30 times last year before nationals. Really motivating. Every time i hear the beat to "Shook Ones, Part 2" it puts a smile to my face. Great movie.

Got an invite to the Irish Open from their national team coach, so i think i'm gonna go to that. Problem is he hasnt told me the dates yet. I don't really care too much about nationals, as I haven't been in the ring in so long im just looking forward to getting back in there... but i don't really care about my result. I'll just do my best and work towards next year when i'll actually have been in the ring a decent amount prior to it.

No school tomorrow, so that gives me a chance to get a few good workouts in... and watch lots of TV between :)

Scott bought a new Tiburon since his old car got fucked up a few weeks back or whenever, picks it up tomorrow so i'll probably stop by there and see that thing for a while. That guy has gone through more cars in the past few years than I have chest protectors.

Well i should go grab a bite to eat so it has time to digest before training. Have a feeling it's gonna be pretty crazy tonight. Only 3 weeks left til nationals, then maybe a few day break then prepare for Carding.

Hmm... what to have.... macaroni, tuna, or fruit salad? Wow what a wide range of foods in our house today.

Back later,

MPW

Oatmeal

Hey

For some reason i had the biggest urge for Apple Cinnamon oatmeal yesterday, so I went out and bought a box of it, and have eaten it for all my meals today. My stomach is starting to feel major rumbling right at the moment, so maybe it was a bad decision.

Well i'm seven pounds away from weight now, hopefully i can make it to about 168-ish so im not stressing too hard when we get there.

I'm really bored right now. I'm gonna go watch this old episode of Garfield & Friends that's on TV. :)

later

Gatorade rules.

Hey,

Just got home from the YMCA. Was kinda pissed on the way there that i'd have to pay $4.00 to get in (i REALLY have to renew my membership this week!) but the girl let me in for free :) What a sweetheart, haha.

Had a pretty good workout of the upper body, then hit the sauna to cut some weight, ended up losing 1.6 kg. Not too bad for one hour of sauna-ing.

Was humorous too, Escobar (former soccer teammate) was in there going off on a rant about some "fucking native girls" who he met at the bar last night and got him to follow them to Forest then they just sped away leaving him with an hour wasted and having to drive back at 4am. The word "fuck" was used probably 48 times in a few sentences' span. All in all it made time pass quicker.

Have I mentioned how much gatorade ROCKS? I bought a small bottle of Watermelon Gatorade after i left the YMCA, and it's easily a god among drinks.

I hope this job for the summer coaching soccer camps works out. $500 a week is SWEET for 3 months of soccer coaching and outdoor work. Plus, helps a lot for the college course.

Apparently some Allison girl from school who knows a girl I talk to sometimes, wants to meet me or somethin? Hmm. Didn't expect that. Ah well, we'll see... you never know :)

Trained a bit today, but not much. Mostly cardio, did a few rounds on the bag, hard to motivate today cause i was pissed, missed a.m. training due to sleeping in.

I think i'm just gonna relax the rest of the night and watch some TV.

might make another entry later

til next time....

Ugh... sleep is the devil sometimes.

Hola,

Just woke up... at 1:30 pm!!!

I slept in through training AND cartoons. Man, what a shitty start to a weekend. These afternoon naps keep screwing up my sleep patterns. Gotta put an end to that.

Short entry, as i'll do another one later tonight...

I gotta go get some breakfast (lunch?) and then go train.

adios

Discovering LiveJournal

Hey,

My first post on here - hope I don't bore you all too soon.

It's about 1:35 am, and I spent another Friday night doing nothing. Well, I went for a jog and did some light kicking, but im starting to regret that as i have always taken Friday as strictly my day off during the week from training.

Been thinking a lot about the game coming up (nationals). I always get really nervous before competitions, but this time i'm a little more relaxed. Just recently I didn't even want to fight nationals this year, but i knew i'd regret it if i didn't, so I figure why not, no matter how I do. All the leg injuries and shit this year have made for quite the unproductive season.

Although I did finish #3 in provincials overall by doing pretty much nothing, so a free warmup suit's never anythin to complain about! :)

But since I decided to go for it, things have been good. Training has been good and intense, and i'm really feeling good about myself for this game despite the usual nerves. I always wondering what the draw is gonna end up like when i'm visualizing things.

I spent my afternoon after school today watching tapes from last year's nationals. I was watching the welter weight category for obvious reasons, and looked at a few of Francois Coulombe-Fortier's fights (vs. Eric Alphonso and some BC guy). Coulombe must be improving a lot as he took second last weekend at Belgium Open and took a win over Augustine Bata of France in the semi-finals. He is tall and awkward, never a good combo for a fighter to deal with... What I don't understand is how he can be so damn tall compared to his opponents, but still manage to get away with such blatant shots to the hips. Strange.

Had a good leg workout today in gym class (fitness). Raised my calf raises to 550 pounds for 5 sets of 10, and did 5 sets of leg press at 445. After these, and leg extensions, hamstring curls and abduction/adduction I felt like my legs were made of Jell-O, but I know it'll all pay off in the long run, so it's cool. :)

Some people really get on my nerves on MSN. I like chatting it up as much as the next person but I can't stand when I have my status set on "Away" with a name like "Gone out - be back at 9" and when I come home my screen is filled with message boxes from people saying shit like "Hello?" "Hello?" "Where are you?" "why aren't you talking?". I mean you have to click the name of the person to message them, you'd think the people read the names. Maybe not. Whatever.

I was down to 81kg today, so almost there, but then my mom made penne w/ tomato sauce and meatballs and I was a bit hungry so I was 82.6 a few minutes ago. Ok, so I was more than a BIT hungry. Haha. At either rate, i'm running to training in the morning so I will take care of this soon enough.

I can't wait to get my new Discman this week coming up.... SO I CAN MAKE WEIGHT! haha. I think i actually have some sort of newfound disease where i CAN'T RUN WITHOUT MUSIC. No idea why but i just can't. I have to stop. Very frustrating. Oh well. I don't have any stress about this weigh-ins. I've always weighed in for welter around 75-76 kilograms, and i'm sure I will again.

Dunno what i'm gonna do this weekend, really. Training a lot tomorrow and upper body weights, and then leg weights and a lot of cardio on Sunday (and a bunch of rounds on the pads). But otherwise, i don't have plans yet. I have this strange urge to watch wrestling on PPV on Sunday, which i havent done in YEARS, so maybe i'll do that. Who knows.

My goal is to be 79 kilos when I wake up Monday morning. Wonder if I can do it... without music. haha. I hate saunas and don't want to go in them, but sometimes it doesn't even feel like a game's coming up if i don't!

Just noticed Canada Open registration packages are posted online. I want to try and hit that game as well as the East Coast Open in May (Maryland, USA) which we were supposed to go to last year until the very last minute.

I've missed most of the year of fighting because of my leg. I gotta get into the damn ring already.

I think I might go to 4th division for Carding, just for something different. On the other hand, i'm not Tony Graf and can't slay giants. Yet. We shall see. Part of me wants to try and do 2nd division again (especially if Jason fights 1st division) but common sense always rules out in my head and i realize I don't want to look like an ethiopian again.

OK. Time to get sleep. Training starts in... ugh.... six hours.

peace

MPW
